how much $ do you need to keep going rest of year
Hi Jack, Eric here. The cost to keep the site up and running is about $350 a month, give or take. So roughly, baring no increases, $1400 for the rest of the year (I pitched in for this month). IT service costs have really gone up this year. I told Leroy about your request and he said that it would be great but he would have to remind everyone that reads, that input from the readers really helps.

It has been a great run. Thank you Leroy for the years of dedication and work to keep us together and updated about what is happening. The numbers in our generation are getting considerably thinned and the younger ones coming up do not know what we had starting with you and Bill. I appreciate your being willing to pick up the reins and keep going for so many years. Have a much deserved rest.

I remember when Mattos had control and I loved to see the FUNNY clean jokes. I basically wanted it to be a site where I could keep track of those retirees and others who had passed away. Sadly the site had become a tribute to Pres. Trump, a 34 time convicted felon for his illegal business deals, his inciting a riot to stop the count of a legitimate election, his constant lying, degrading service members who had died for this country, those service members who were captured (John McCain) and labeled as “losers”, and his election denial in 2020 when he appealed the result (63 times). I could go on and on but would not be enough space!! Senator Mark Kelley recently said “Trump should stay to what he knows best. Ballrooms, bankruptcy and bullshit”. I would have happily contributed to keep the site working but not when it had been hijacked by MAGA people who have drunk the Koolaid to be a member of the cult! Maybe one day the Farsider might get resurrected by people who want to just pass along information that benefits everyone! I think a time will come where MAGA and Trumpites will be left in the cold!! This may not happen in my lifetime but I hope my kids and grandkids wont have to suffer for years to come before a change but I am afraid it will take many years to erase #47 from the archives.

Hey Brad – good to finally have someone speak up on this topic. I’ve enjoyed keeping up on all the old cronies events and such but this publication took a turn some time back. Perhaps a different publication could be started for political awareness but doubt that it could go to a more non-partisan viewpoint. Best of luck Leroy; I remember hours spent in that small xerox room running off the Watch Bulletin once Bill had dissected its contents. Still miss that guy. Take care everyone and be well.

Too bad a subscription could not have been set up for all to pay a small portion of the total cost. I’m so sorry to see this come to an end. It has been my life line to SJPD since I left (to manage the family farm in Kansas) almost 50 years ago. As a final item can you publish the list of officers that have ‘passed’ over the years? In reading the names they tripped neurons/synapses bringing back great memories of my years, 1965/1978, with the greatest police dept in California. Leroy, thank you for all your time and effort over the years. Take care and good luck.
