Jim provided information for retirees who live out of the area or state and wish to renew their Department ID card without having to make a trip to the station.
This does not apply to those renewing their CCW endorsement.
The process:
- Call the Permits Unit , (408) 277-4452 or email them, sjpdpermits@sanjoseca.gov and request a form.
- Complete the form
- Take a passport style photo of yourself or request the use of your photo on file.
- Email a scanned copy of the form and your photo to the Permits Unit or mail it:
