Mattos Mail Bag!
Hello all,It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of retired Ofc. Curtis (Curt) Reeves #1727 on June 6, 2025 after a short illness.
Information regarding a memorial will be posted when received.
The black and white photo is from the 1983 Department yearbook.
The color photo is from a recent PBA meeting.
Retired Sgt Dave Wysuph provided the following update on Sgt. Ed Escobar:

Friends of Ed Escobar, I have GREAT NEWS!!

Last post had Ed going to a care facility where a series of specialists and tormentors could have their way with Ed for most of the hours of the day.
Fortunately Denise was there to make sure he did his homework late into the evenings.
He has made such significant recovery they are releasing him on FRIDAY the 13th and he will be home again!
After that he is repatriated to Kaiser for OUT PATIENT therapy.
That’s good because it is close and they have dealt with those therapists there and are comfortable with them.
This is fantastic news, and we all can welcome him home.

Thank you for the continued prayers and well wishes.
Denise has read every note sent to him and it boosted his spirits to walk down memory lane and reminisce.

Thank you all again, we are a family.

Ernie Alcantar
PBA President

4 Thoughts on “RIP retired Ofc. Curtis (Curt) Reeves #1727

  1. A Curt Reeves story..on my 40th birthday my friends/neighbors threw a surprise party. My gift was a pig! It was the cutest little thing and the life of the party. People fed it cake, strawberries, apples from my tree just about anything. Then it was determined that the little gal was constantly sh..ing all over the place and my idea of keeping it as a pet wasn’t going to happen. So I put the word out “free pig”!
Curt came to my rescue. He found someone (I think a relative) with a farm who would take “Penelope” (yes we named her)! The only demand I had was, no keeping her for bacon. She became a breeder pig for Curt’s friend on the farm or so I was told. Thank you Curt and RIP. You are missed.

  3. RIP brother. Worked several patrols teams with Curt. Was a great person to be around, fun, hard working with an easy temperament
