SENDING THIS OUT EARLY AS IT IS GETTING A BIT LONG.

Police officers stand guard near a crime scene in Los Angeles on March 8, 2023.
From CalMatters criminal justice reporting intern Anabel Sosa:

Violent crime and property crimes ticked up in California last year, while murders were down, according to an annual report the Attorney General’s office released just before the holiday weekend.

The office also issued an additional report on guns used in crimes — the first time the state has released an analysis on trends relating to “firearms that are illegally possessed, have been used in a crime, or are suspected of having been used in a crime.”

While the number of homicides in California declined from 2,361 in 2021 to 2,206 in 2022, other types of violent crimes — including robbery and assault — rose 6% last year.

The number of reported property crimes, such as burglary and theft, have gone down since 2017, with the exception of 2022, which saw a 6.2% increase.

Some Republicans suggest that Democrats are “in denial” about crime in California and that they should abandon their soft-on-crime approach.

Senate GOP leader Brian Jones, from El Cajon: “Sadly, we are not surprised to learn that California’s violent and property crime rates increased in 2022.”
Gov. Newsom has addressed growing public concern over crime rates by fulfilling some promises he said would reform the criminal justice system, while also boosting crime-fighting efforts.

The 10 Most Dangerous Roads in California

San Jose
U.S. Highway 101

US Route 101 extends from California through Oregon to Washington, stretching 2478 km. It has a lot of traffic, especially in the evening. Drivers plying this route enjoy high speeds, which is why it is on this list. The US Highway 101 section that runs through San Jose is considered the most dangerous, with 25% of all San Jose traffic fatalities. In 2019, 7 people lost their lives there. Full Article HERE

San Luis Obispo: Why you should visit California’s last sleepy stretch of coast, hidden in plain sight
I was in Cayucos, a hidden surf town in San Luis Obispo County on California’s crowd-free central coast – or SLO-CAL as it’s known. Exactly halfway between San Francisco and LA, this peaceful paradise is home to world-class surf, glorious wine country, seal colonies, Michelin-starred restaurants, the kitschiest hotel in the world, and even an opulent castle.

Archaeologists Dug Up Paul Revere’s Outhouse. The Outhouse Was Found Behind The Pierce-Hichborn House, Next To Paul Revere’s Home.

In The Two Weeks Since The Dig Began, Archeologists Already Found Some Artifacts.

Although the excavation only began on September 26, 2017, and so far archaeologists have only dug 3 feet deep, they’ve already stumbled across a few treasures. Those taking part in the excavation have been documenting their findings on instagram. Among the items they’ve already found include part of a beer stein from the 1700s, pieces of coal, and pottery.

Editor’s note: As a kid living in Maryland there was an outhouse in the back yard. My Dad rented when the landlord installed indoor plumbing. There were many outhouses in that area then and we would often see excavations and stories of the many items recovered were amazing

KENNEDYISMS: D.C. Elites ‘Working Harder Than an Ugly Stripper to Cover Up’ Biden Mess

Louisiana Senator John Kennedy stopped by Fox News on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the mounting evidence against Joe and Hunter Biden; “the American people can see it,” he says.

Kennedy says he is “repeatedly amazed at how many smart people there are in Washington, D.C. who have no sense.”

“I do know this — and I think the American people can see it — the Washington managerial elite, the establishment if you will, is working harder than an ugly stripper to cover up whatever happened,” said Kennedy. “And that’s all that Congress is asking for, is the facts.”

“To the point that they have no sense,” Kennedy continued, “the elite in Washington think that the American people don’t see that they’re covering up and that they’re being obstructionist. Maybe it’s a reflection of the contempt they have for the American people, but any fair-minded person can see that our efforts to get to just the facts are being obstructed,” said Sen. Kennedy.

“It started with Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Kennedy explained of the D.C. establishment’s demonstrated track record of working to cover for Hunter Biden. “They tried to convince the American people it wasn’t real and it was,” he reminded. “And I think many people in the federal government knew almost from the inception that it was real, and so a lot of folks lied to the American people.”

Military service requirements, maybe the Police should re-think?

MILITARY SERVICE REQUIREMENTS!!!

Trey Gowdy, a former South Carolina Congressman, responded to a question from a CNN reporter about the ban of transgenders from joining the U.S. armed forces. As Trey typically does so very well, he nailed it rather succinctly.

Question: How can President Trump claim to represent all U.S citizens, regardless of sexual orientation, when he banned transgenders from joining the military? Isn’t that discrimination?

Trey Gowdy’s Response: “Nobody has a right to serve in the Military. Nobody! What makes you people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? It is very far from it – and for good reasons – let me cite a few: The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short. Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers.” he went on to explain: “By the way, poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identification as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair?” “Can’t run the required course in the required time? Can’t do the required number of push-ups? Not really a morning person? and refuse to get out of bed before noon? All can be legitimate reasons for denial”

“The Military has one job: Winning War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability. Did someone just scream? That isn’t Fair? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful.” “YOU must change yourself to meet Military standards and not the other way around.” “I say again: You don’t change the Military – you must change yourself. The Military is not about being fair, it is about taking advantage of others and about winning. The Military doesn’t need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars and keep our Country safe – PERIOD!”

“If any of your personal issues are a liability that detracts from readiness or lethality… Thank you for applying, and good luck in future endeavors.”

“Any other questions?
