Hello all,There will be a PBA meeting this month on Wednesday the 18th.
Doors open at 5.I received the following from the PD Safety Officer regarding an upcoming presentation covering Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI).The presentation is free of charge.
Frontline Trauma and The Path to Recovery.
Michael Sugrue, retired Police Sergeant.
Understanding how frontline trauma, both cumulative and critical incident-specific, can lead to
Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI), and knowing you can heal is key to building resiliency, increasing mental fitness, and living a well-balanced life.
Sgt. Sugrue recounts his personal critical incidents which ultimately resulted in PTSI and almost cost him his life.
Sgt. Sugrue’s life spiraled downward drastically, until he finally had enough strength and courage to ask for help.
From this presentation, attendees will
- Learn warning signs, indicators, and causation of PTSI,
- Learn from past practices/events and identify ways to improve their individual response and agencies response to these tragic events,
- Learn strategies for enhancing officer safety, resiliency, wellness, and survival.
This training is open to both officers and professional staff, spouses/partners, and retirees.
