WELL, I WAS TRYING TO BE CREATIVE WHEN THIS EDITION WAS GETTING PRETTY LONG, SO I DECIDED TO CREATE A 081323 PAGE (THE DATE OF THE DECISION) AND CUT OFF ADDITIONS AND GO ON WITH THE 0817 PAGE. GOOD IDEA, RIGHT?

WELL, INSTEAD OF CUTTING IT IN HALF, I DELETED THE CONTENTS WITH THEM ENDING UP IN THE TRASH. RETRIEVABLE, OF COURSE, BUT NO WAY FOR ME TO ASSIGN THE PICS TO THE CONTRIBUTOR. SO, MY APOLOGIES TO THE CONTRIBUTORS BUT HERE YA GO:

SJPD Investigates Scammers Posing as Law Enforcement

Post Date: 08/15/2023 10:45 AM

MEDIA ADVISORY

The San José Police Department Financial Crimes Unit has identified a new fraud scam after receiving multiple reports of suspects impersonating law enforcement officials. Utilizing new technology, the suspects have been able to mask their caller ID displays to appear to be from a law enforcement agency. This new caller ID masking is often referred to as “phone number spoofing.”

In the most recent reports, the suspects have been calling victims and claiming the victims had warrants for their arrest. The scammers threatened to arrest and book the victims into jail unless they paid a specific amount to clear their warrants. In some cases, the scammers may even try to convince their victims to meet at or near official law enforcement buildings in order to appear more official.

SJPD would like to remind the public that law enforcement officers will NEVER call individuals demanding money for warrants to avoid arrest. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer who tells you there is a warrant for your arrest, and who demands payment in exchange for not arresting you on that warrant, please notify your local law enforcement agency..

SJPD Fraud Detectives are actively investigating these cases. Anyone with information about these cases or similar cases is asked to contact Detective Wellman #4447 of the San José Police Financial Crimes Unit via email: 4447@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4521.

Submit crime tips and remain anonymous by using the P3TIPS mobile app, calling the tip line at (408) 947-STOP, or on www.svcrimestoppers.org. If the information you submit leads to an arrest, you are eligible for a cash reward from the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program.

August 2023
Greetings from the high desert in southern Utah.  More than half of the year has passed so I figure it is time for an update.  A friend in Plumas County, John Work
and I had a habit of weekly treks onto the NW Nevada desert.  Most trips recorded about 200 miles per jaunt.  We were in quest of the wild coyote plus we
got a bird’s eye view of wonderful vistas and antiquities.  John informed me that he no longer readS or listeneS to current news due to the distortions and blatant bias.
So, it fell to me to keep him up on the distortions and bias.  I once read a profound statement by a legendary scholar that if a person goes a week without input
from current news comment there was no worth in whatever that person might see fit to offer.  When you are wrapped up in yourself, you make a very small package.
so I tried to keep John up to speed with the daily tripe.  Well the good ship has landed, I find no merit in reading or listening to current news inasmuch as it is solely
tripe, gossip, greed and bias.  I still search for bits of information on the state of America and find it to be depressing.  I read the prophecy of our founding fathers and find their data to be accurate and on the mark.  We have lost our way.  At every turn I find myself trying to read the information tattooed on individuals’ bodies and marvel at the exploitation of body rings, hanging trinkets and hair styles that make aborigines jealous.  Plus, there are hair colors that defy Picasso.  I am so grateful to live where such is very sparse and the norm is a western straw, jeans, manure covered boots, large pickup trucks and a horse in every 5th yard in town.  The center of
attraction is associated with the youth which are involved in every school sport known to man.  On any given weekend about 200 cars park adjoining the little league fourplex ball diamonds.  At fair time there are about 1000 cars present at the horseraces. Not bad for a city of about 2000+.  Statewide awards are gathered by the youth in various competitions on a regular basis.

A mishap with the computer silenced my offerings for several months.  I miss the computer geeks in Reno, Nevada.  It never took more than 45 minutes to get me back on track and up and running.  Presently, I reach back across miles and beg remedy from Portola’s Victor Chan, computer expert supreme.  A few weeks back, we were on the phone for about an hour and he got me up and running.  Plus, he has my security cameras humming along.  I love that boy.

Occasionally, I make a firearms sale here and find it a breeze.  Customer desires gun, I order it and upon the speedy arrival, we fill out ATF form 4473. I call Salt Lake Bureau of Criminal Identification, in 45 seconds they have made the check and the customer walks out the door with new gun.  Plus, there is no concealed carry law in Utah and they allow open carry.  A majority of mishaps and illegal use of firearms are by the illegal element that permeates these United States.  My research of a location to resettle found that Utah, above all others practice and support allegiance to the Constitution of these United States and do not simply offer lip service to it.

The second amendment is paramount.

Despite enjoying several personal losses and the lack of the hundreds of friends and acquaintances I am at peace here.  The stress and frustration in the land of fruits and nuts were too burdensome for my stressed-out weak mind.  Another birthday recently brings the reality of one’s mortality to the front and despite declining health I greet each day with thanksgiving and appreciation.  At least once a week I journey onto the desert in quest of said coyote.  A Cardioversion on the first of August worked for a day or two and now we continue in Afib with a monitor in my bedroom that keeps me in touch with the medical world.   My new pacemaker is doing its job and is improved over the first one of 8 years ago.  In high school typing we learned “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party.” It is still true today.  Vote Trump and rid these states of the nonsense.  I miss $2.15 / gal gasoline.

My mother would be proud of me, daily prayer, which she instituted is my norm these days.  The counsel of our founding fathers whereby in order to enjoy freedom every man was to see to the welfare of his own family, livestock and self by first enjoying a Christian ethic.  Without said Christian ethic, there is no freedom.  Our country is the only free nation on earth and if we continue the errant route, it too will disappear into the chaos that awaits the non-believer and practitioner.  Pray for those that work to protect us and lay their lives on the line every day.  Pray for these United States of America!  Once a sheep dog, always a sheep dog.  I cannot help it.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Love, Dave
