Louisville: Another Sociopathic ‘Suicide by Cop’?

The assailant knew the outcome would be his own demise.

There is wall-to-wall media coverage of another terrible murder scene, this time in Louisville, Kentucky, where a sociopath killed five people and injured eight others. The assailant left messages with friends that he was depressed and was going to kill people at the bank, posted social media messages affirming his intent, and then live-streamed his assault.

n

There will be forensic investigations of his digital footprint to determine his political and social views, but the fact is, this was a mentally deranged individual who, ultimately, wanted to die.

n

Police quickly engaged and killed the assailant before he could murder others. Among the injured are two police officers, one of whom, rookie Nickolas Wilt, just completed his training. He is in critical but stable condition. Story HERE

San Jose food vendor finds novel way to raise moneyn

nA popular San Jose food vendor is trying to set up a brick-and-mortar restaurant, but has struggled to get a small business loan from a traditional lender.nnThe owner of Hết Sẩy has found an innovative solution to pay for a more permanent location: an online crowdfunding marketplace with a unique twist for small businesses known as SMBX. It comes at a time when San Jose restaurateurs have struggled as labor costs continue to rise and the threat of additional regulations and the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic persist.nnThe platform helped DuyAn Le, owner of the food pop-up, raise $124,000 in less than a month, a story of success that raises hope for small businesses looking for a path to growth or sustainability.nn“It feels amazing,” Le told San José Spotlight. “People believe in us.” Story HEREnApparently, the four police officers are good customers at the location, which manager Arline Wood, an 18-year veteran of the company, took notice of. So, she and Rao devised a plan together, and when it came time for the officers to pay the $67 tab, the officers quickly realized it was on the house. Not only did the server and manager pick up their tab, they left them a heartfelt note on the ticket, thanking them for their service to the community.n

“Be safe!” the note started at the very top of the receipt, before finishing their message to the officers at the bottom. “Thank y’all for y’all’s service! Enjoy y’all’s meal on us!”n

“They care about the community. They care about everybody. They’re just great guys. Our whole police force is great and these guys at night, I went to Zoe and I said, let’s take care of it,” Arline Wood said. In an effort to thank the two Outback Steakhouse employees, the Slidell Police Department posted an image of the receipt to their Facebook page, and as you would imagine, it quickly went viral. However, that’s not what Arline Wood or Zoe Rao wanted at all.

nnToday I was in a shoe store that sells only shoes, nothing else. A young girl with a tattoo and green hair walked over to me and asked, “What brings you in today? I looked at her and said, “I’m interested in buying a refrigerator.” She didn’t quite know how to respond, had that deer in the headlights look.nnI was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.nnWhen people see a cat’s litter box they always say, “Oh, have you got a cat?” I just say, “No, it’s for company!”nnEmployment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, “An ambulance.”nnThe older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.nnThe easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.nnHave you ever noticed: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL.nnThe sole purpose of a child’s middle name is so he knows when he’s really in trouble.nnDid you ever notice that when you put the 2 words “The” and “IRS” together it spells “Theirs?”nnAging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.nSome people try to turn back their “odometers.” Not me.nI want people to know why I look this way.nI’ve traveled a long way and a lot of the roads were not paved.nnYou know you are getting old when everything either dries up, sags or leaks.n

Ah! Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable.
