OK, thanx to the many who contributed to keep this old rag going. At least to keep this old guy going!

STATE OF THE UNION

AMERICANS APPARENTLY CANNOT ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE PROSPEROUS, SAFE, AND FREE.

MUSLIMS IN THE UNITED STATES

New York City is a dump filled with immigrants who are used to filth, crime, and chaos.  Now they’ve voted in a communist to enhance their dream.  It’s all perspective.  I see a nightmare.  Next year is the 25th anniversary of 9/11 when 19 Muslims flew planes into the WTC and other targets.   7,000 soldiers died in Afghanistan and Iraq fighting the war on terror.  How soon people forget.

Per the Halal Times… top 10 Muslim cities in the United States are:

Dearborn, MI, NYC, Patterson, NJ, Chicago, ILL, Houston, TX, LA, CA, Atlanta GA, Philadelphia, PA, Minneapolis, MN, and Dallas, TX.

Do you see a pattern here?  Do you think it’s a coincidence?

Did you know that middle eastern people are classified as white in the federal government census?

California, Michigan and New York had the highest MENA populations on the 2020 census.  Middle eastern or North African MENA

Random thought: Did your “fun-size” candy bars have 33% less fun this year? I know mine did🙄

While I’d love to give public accolades to the generous reader who submitted the prompt that inspired this 101-word adventure, my records have apparently been redacted. Once you read the story, you’ll probably see the irony in that. I assure you, it’s purely coincidental—really!

        A Lesson in

Principles

Fernando stepped up to the podium of Madison High’s packed gymnasium. The valedictorian scanned the front row and then locked in on his principal—already squirming.

“Today we graduate from a school named after one of the Founding Fathers—a man dedicated to protecting our freedom of speech,” Fernando began. “Unfortunately, Principal Wright feels otherwise. He won’t allow me to read my prepared speech.”

A loud chorus of boos erupted.

“Instead, for my allotted time, I’ll be silent while you contemplate what I should be saying.”

All eyes went to Principal Wright.

It was the longest five minutes of his life.

Prompt: Censorship

NOVEL NEWS & OTHER NOTES…

Since we last chatted, I’ve rounded up the usual suspects and fleshed out notes on how they’ll enter the novel, and what twists and turns they’ll be responsible for as my intrepid detectives work to solve the big crime.

Now that I have all that done, I’m starting to outline the story beats of this next draft, sprinkling my characters throughout the novel. Just like in the real world, things begin to line up and it looks like the cops are on the right track, right up until the time they figure out they they’re not on the right track. It’s frustrating to sprint down the rabbit hole before—wait. I don’t think we ever sprinted down any rabbit holes. Maybe we dug furiously, but sprinted? Probably not. Never mind. You get the idea. Promising leads dry up, and then you need to hunt for another one. It’s the nature of the beast, but at least for me, it was my favorite kind of hunting.

Speaking of… I can use your help on something. Last time, I mentioned doing some research involving pre-Columbian art that figures into the story. I had a great meeting with a pre-Columbian artifact expert and now I need to find someone who has some expertise in accurately dating ancient art. There are two processes used to do this: thermoluminescence (TL) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF). If you know anyone who might be able to answer a few questions for me (like if either of these things can be done in the field—as opposed to in a lab—please reach out to me. I’m very committed to keeping my story as authentic as possible, and I don’t want any archeologists hunting me down and accusing me of being a fraud. Hey—I can hear that at home!

That’ll do it for this episode.

Thanks for listening!

Scotty out
