As resident historian, I was hoping that you could pass along to the group that my father passed away; 9:30 this evening. He had quite an interesting life; baseball with the Pirates, arrested Sonny Barger while at DOJ, and even worked the Billionaire Boys Club case… but he always said the best memories were his days at Fremont PD.

Leroy isn’t that you on the far left side of the photo. As I recall you were at Fremont PD in those days and the Governors 20 List was always within your reach.
That’s me! Working narco at the time under Sgt Bert Jensen out of the house on Country Dr where all detective units were assigned. Also where I crossed “The Red Baron”, Roger Neumann. My wife worked a Mervyns and got a good discount. She bought me some colored shirts and when I showed up one morning in a pale yellow shirt at the coffee clatch we held every morning in the kitchen he got upset because the standard was white. But he almost shit his pants when I wore bell bottom slacks! All fashionable at the time, which Neumann wasn’t!😉.
Anyhow, after a few years Jensen was offered the job as head of the Solano Co Drug Abuse Bureau in Fairfield. Money for drug abuse agecies flowed heavy from the government at the time. He offered me a job and I accepted, resigning from FPD.
I tired of working narco and went to Chief Fabbri to ask for my job back. Hr refused. New york, you know! And he mention that Neumann still held a grudge and it would be a bad fit.😉
An SE that we had used a few times for drug buys then worked for SJPD and invited me for a ride along.
That sold me on SJPD and I hired on. Retired after 20 years happy as a bug in a rug, as they say.
