Bible snub? Here’s why Trump did not place hand on holy book while reciting oath of office.
Trump’s critics pounced on the moment.
President Donald Trump did not place his hand on the Bible while taking the presidential oath of office during his inauguration.
But why?
‘Chief Justice John Roberts appears to have taken the view that “Justice delayed is justice denied.”‘
A picture of the moment shows Trump standing across from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who administered the presidential oath of office, with his right hand in the air and his left hand by his side.
That Trump did not place his hand on the Bible ironically upset leftists, who questioned whether the oath even counted if Trump did not have his hand on the Bible. Other anti-Trump antagonists suggested that Trump did not place his hand on the Bible because he did not want the “flesh seared off his hand.” Even David Axelrod accused Trump of having “neglected” the Bible, an action he implied undermines Trump’s belief that divine intervention saved him from assassination.
The answer to why Trump did not put his hand on the Bible is more innocent than his uncharitable critics suggest.
First, it’s clear that Trump intended to take his oath of office with his hand on the Bible. Pictures show first lady Melania Trump standing next to her husband while holding two Bibles: Trump’s personal Bible, which his mother gave to him, and the Lincoln Bible that President Abraham Lincoln used when he took the presidential oath of office in 1861.
Second, as legal scholar Jonathan Turley observed, Roberts “moved a tad too quickly” during the ceremony, initiating the oath before Trump and his family were ready.
This meant Melania Trump was not in position.
“Chief Justice John Roberts appears to have taken the view that ‘Justice delayed is justice denied’ by jumping forward to start the oath before Trump could put his hand on the Bible,” Turley said.
Video of the inauguration confirms this observation. It’s clear that Melania’s first cue to move from her seat to her husband’s side was when Roberts asked Trump to “raise your right hand and repeat after me.” And that’s exactly what she did.
But Roberts did not pause to allow Melania and other family members to take their positions around Trump. Instead, he immediately began administering the oath of office.
Nursing home blues………….
One evening, a family takes their frail, elderly mother to a nursing home, hoping she will be well cared for…
The next morning, the nurses bathe her, feed her a tasty breakfast…
Then set her in a chair near a window overlooking a lovely flower garden.
She seems okay, but after a while she slowly starts to lean over sideways in her chair…
Two attentive nurses immediately rush up to catch her and straighten her up.
Again, she seems okay, but after a while she starts to tilt to the other side…
The nurses rush back and once more bring her back upright.
This goes on all morning…
Later, the family arrives to see how the old woman is adjusting to her new home.
“So, Ma, how is it here?”
“Are they treating you alright?” they ask.
“It’s pretty nice,” she replies…
“Except they won’t let you fart.”

FBI Director Christopher Wray called clemency ‘wholly unjustified’ for Leonard Peltier, who is expected to be placed on house arrest after prison release
Asylum seekers’ caught transporting 30,000 rounds of ammo — cartel link suspected
Three foreign nationals and one American citizen were tied to the incident.
Several “asylum seekers,” believed to be connected to a Mexican drug cartel, were reportedly caught transporting nearly 30,000 rounds of ammunition in Arizona.
A multi-agency investigation in mid-January led to the seizure of 10,000 rounds of .50 caliber ammunition and 19,640 rounds of 7.62×39 ammunition from two vehicles traveling on Interstate 10.
‘The Cartels have engaged in a campaign of violence and terror.’
Cochise County Counter Narcotics and Trafficking Alliance released a statement over the weekend concerning the bust.
“The vehicle containing the 7.62×39 ammunition was interdicted by the Pinal County Sheriff’s office. Still, the second vehicle containing the .50 caliber ammunition was located by CNTA investigators at Motel 6 in Benson,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
The statement further noted that three of the vehicles’ occupants were “asylum seekers,” one of whom was a Cuban national. A fourth individual was identified as an American citizen from Texas.
Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels stated that the individuals were arrested.Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives lead the ongoing investigation.
While it has not yet been confirmed, authorities suspect the large ammunition haul is tied to a Mexican drug cartel.
Bernard Zapor, a retired ATF special agent in charge, told KSAZ-TV, “One thing for sure is that U.S. ammunition is a massively sought commodity in Mexico. It is priceless.”
“There’s a couple of things that are very interesting about this: the way that it was being transported, it wasn’t concealed from the photographs of the arrests. It was very blatantly just stored in an SUV, which indicates to me that they probably had the crossing into Mexico completely arranged,” Zapor said.
On Monday, day one of President Donald Trump’s second term, he signed an executive order designating cartels “as foreign terrorist organizations.”
“The Cartels have engaged in a campaign of violence and terror throughout the Western Hemisphere that has not only destabilized countries with significant importance for our national interests but also flooded the United States with deadly drugs, violent criminals, and vicious gangs,” the order read.
“The Cartels functionally control, through a campaign of assassination, terror, rape, and brute force nearly all illegal traffic across the southern border of the United States,” it continued. “In certain portions of Mexico, they function as quasi-governmental entities, controlling nearly all aspects of society. The Cartels’ activities threaten the safety of the American people, the security of the United States, and the stability of the international order in the Western Hemisphere. Their activities, proximity to, and incursions into the physical territory of the United States pose an unacceptable national security risk to the United States.”
Last week, the Department of Justice announced that it sentenced a “prolific firearms trafficker” to 19.5 years in prison for smuggling weapons and ammunition into Mexico for the Sinaloa Cartel.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California Tara McGrath stated, “Guns and ammunition smuggled into Mexico support cartels and empower drug traffickers.”
DEA Special Agent in Charge Brian Clark called the firearms and ammunition trafficking “a lifeline” for the cartel.
“Weapons trafficking fuels drug-related violence,” Clark said.

Hegseth’s Ex-Wife Disputes Claims from Ex-Sister-in-Law She Was Abused
Pete Hegseth’s ex-wife has disputed claims made by an estranged ex-sister-in-law she was abused during their marriage — a fact being downplayed by the mainstream news media and Democrats in a last-ditch effort to tank Hegseth’s confirmation as defense secretary.
Samantha Deering, Hegseth’s ex-wife, said in an email to NBC News, who first reported the ex-sister-in-law’s claims: “I do not believe your information to be accurate, and I have cc’d my lawyer.”
She added, “There was no physical abuse in my marriage. This is the only further statement I will make to you, I have let you know that I am not speaking and will not speak on my marriage to Pete. Please respect this decision.”
In addition, both Deering and the sister-in-law, Danielle Dietrich, recently spoke to the FBI as part of its background investigation into Hegseth. The investigation came back “unremarkable,” according to Punchbowl News last week.

Dietrich divorced from Hegseth’s brother seven years ago.
The allegations that Hegseth abused his ex-wife comes just days before he is expected to be confirmed as defense secretary by the full Senate, in an effort to sway Republican support.
In fact, Dietrich herself told NBC News that she came forward only because she was assured that the allegations would have that effect.
Dietrich told NBC News that part of her reason for coming forward is “because I have been assured that making this public statement will ensure that certain Senators who are still on the fence will vote against Hegseth’s confirmation.”
She said, “But for that assurance I would not subject myself or others referred to in this statement to the public scrutiny this statement is likely to cause.”
Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT), a strong supporter of Hegseth, posted: “This is a desperate, last-minute attempt by Dems and the media to smear Pete Hegseth and tank his nomination. Pete’s ex-wife is on the record saying the claims are false, but the media doesn’t care because it hurts a Republican. Nobody should fall for this.”
Vice President JD Vance called the reports a “disgrace.”
“This is a story about Hegseth’s ex-wife, who herself said the story is a lie. ‘Journalism’ like this is a disgrace and is why the corporate media has lost its relevance,” Vance posted.
Donald Trump Jr. also called out NBC News for not highlighting that their report was disputed by the subject of their piece.
“Notice how this ‘reporter’ doesn’t include in her tweet the most important part of their failed hit piece: That Hegseth’s ex wife is ON THE RECORD denying these claims. Shouldn’t that be the headline here? This is exactly why we say the media is the enemy of the people!!!”
Arthur Schwartz, an adviser to Hegseth, posted, “Hegseth’s ex-wife is on the record saying none of this is true. And if it were true, she would have used it during their divorce for money and custody. You have to be a first class retard to believe any of this.”
Andrew Surabian, a Vance adviser, called out Politico for reporting on the piece, but not mentioning Deering’s denial.
“Weird how Politico doesn’t mention in their newsletter the key fact that Hegseth’s ex wife is on the record in the story DENYING these BS smears. Why would you leave that fact out of your newsletter unless you’re trying to be purposely dishonest? Journalistically indefensible.”
