Also remember going rounds with Joe Mac and weapons. One time he claimed on 60 Seconds that a semi auto could be fired as fast as a full auto. He then ordered me to do so and of course I said it couldn’t be done. He said “ well, I already told them on 60 Seconds it is possible so you better by God be able to! “I was on 60 Seconds trying to make an Uzi fire like full auto and ….. It didn’t.

I worked for over a decade with Joe Mac within academia. One issue we disagreed on, and one he was never able to completely articulate to me was his opinion on gun control vs the 2nd Amendment. We agreed to disagree…right up to his passing.

Wasn’t it McNamara that said when the dept. was transitioning from revolvers to semi autos in the 80’s, that the service weapon only needed to have an 8-round capacity, because he couldn’t conceive of a situation where an officer would need more than 8 rounds?
