nnRichard (Dick) John Yuhas, 86 years old, son of John Yuhas and Gladys Ruth Yuhas (Nee. Jones). Born in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania on October 13, 1935, joined our Heavenly Father quietly on April 2, 2022 at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona and will be interred on Monday April 18th 2022, at 11:00 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona. After moving to Arizona at an early age he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps (age 17) at the tail end of the Korean War. Following the war he and his wife Mary-Jo moved to Northern California where their oldest child was born. After a year and a half they moved back to Phoenix Arizona where they lovingly brought three other children into this world. Dick played Football at Phoenix College where they ended up playing in their first Potato Bowl (1959) in Idaho. Following school Dick joined the Phoenix Fire Department where he worked for a number of years making many friends. During his time he was also involved in body building and competing for Mr. Phoenix as he loved body building. The next stop in his Family’s journey was back to Northern California where he worked as a Fire Fighter for Lockheed Space for a short time then on to Sunnyvale Public Safety (Police and Fire). Not being fully content, he hired on with the San Jose Police Department where he ultimately found his calling. He retired after 32 years and they moved back to Arizona. He loved his job and the people he worked with, always the first to help and the first to lend a hand up to the less fortunate. He was the protector and was always a “Buddy” to his co workers, developing many close friendships on the Department which lasted throughout his lifetime. Dick loved his family and adopted pets with all his heart. Dick was a proud American who loved all this country had to offer. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary-Jo Yuhas (Nee. Duke) and their four children, Janet Renee and husband John Foley and their three children, Matthew Ryan and wife Amy Lee and their two children John Ryan & Emma Lee Foley, Jackelyn Leigh and husband Koosha Sadeeghi and Mark Patrick Foley, John Rexford and wife Debra Jean Yuhas and their two children, Timothy Curtis and Zoe Elizabeth Yuhas and their two children Gabriella Kate and Benjamin Rexford Yuhas, Craig Thomas and wife Kylie Ann Yuhas and their two children Dalton John & Colter Gregory Yuhas, Karen Leigh and husband Stewart Shanahan with sons Brian Douglas Hall and Richard John Hall, Kathy Lynn and husband Larry Dean Carroll and their children Joshua Kurtis Carroll and wife Afifeh Khatabi Carroll and Stephanie Briane Oginni and husband Paul Oginni and sister Janet Ruth and husband Karl Leslie Mulleneaux and their son (Dick’s only nephew) Steven Todd and wife Jan and their son Jason Todd.nn
